Invitation: Hopework Supper, Sunday, October 23

Dear Hopework Friends,

September's first Hopework dinner and circle brought a dozen of us together for a very moving start to the year's focus on the places where our lives meet the world and how we are living into the future. The stories seemed to come right from the center of every person. And because the stories were more complex, it took us longer to make our way around the circle. We ended at 8:00 with appreciation and gratitude for all that was shared.

Please join John and me this Sunday, from 4:00-8:00 PM, for a simple meal, then a circle to share hopes and possibilities for bringing something new to those large or small places where our lives meet the world. Put voice to what you know is possible, share the "gaps" you observe between how things are and how you would like them to be, the actions that call you to stay inside your hopes, and the shifts of vision that occur as you meet the challenges on your journey. Together we will witness each other's possibilities, nurture connections and friendships, and celebrate the steps we take on our journeys.

October Hopework Supper and Circle

Date: Sunday, October 23, 2011.

RSVP: Please let us know by Saturday night (10/22) how many plan to attend. Call or email if you have any questions. I have room for about 12 people around the table (and at least 20 if we move it out of the way!)

Time: Arrive at 4:00 pm (or at 3:00 pm if you would like to visit and be on my cooking and setup team). The meal will begin at 4:30 pm. We usually finish telling stories and cleaning up about 8:00 pm.

Menu: Bring a dish or a favorite beverage to share. I'll provide a main dish (usually vegetarian) and will make coffee and offer my assortment of teas.

For those of you who are new, Hopework is the practice of creating spaces for people to get to know and like each other and to find renewed hope and purpose with and from each other. Hopework' suppers and story circle evenings are a way to reconnect with friends who have shared in our work and to meet new acquaintances who share our interests. Each month we look forward to greeting Hopework friends, Philosophy Camp/Lives Worth Living alumni and fellows, and making new friends and acquaintances.

This year we will meet on the 4th Sundays of most months. Please join us when you can!
