Hi, Lynn.
Dang, I forgot to rsvp by last night! May I still come, same day?
My cell phone # is 612-750-2334--could you let me know if it's a problem?

In the day's theme of surprise, I don't yet know what I'll bring to share.
Warmly,
Anna

Dear Hopework Friends,

April's supper and circle is a week earlier than usual to avoid
Easter. Please join John and me for the last supper and circle of the
spring this Sunday, April 17, from 4:00-7:00 PM. I haven't yet thought
of a topic, so you'll be surprised by the question.

March's story circle asked participants to share something about an
experience of a freezing or thawing in life. In the moving stories
that were shared, I heard how freezing stops us and thawing starts us
up again. The images I took from the stories that stayed with me
include: Those who bring light and warmth to cold (social) spaces
inspire us. Anxieties have a chilling effect on us, and anxiety
crystalized puts us in a sudden frozen state. Competition can freeze.
Compassion and friendship thaws. Comparisons with others may freeze
us, but recognizing one's accomplishments thaws. A thaw may seem
elusive when we feel frozen. Working to integrate and merge frozen and
liquid states of being results in slush, at least for a while. A
sudden freeze triggered, for example, by the loss of a job can have a
chilling effect, but may help us emerge stronger from having survived
a period of cold. Risking a move to a wintry (foreign) climate may
find us stronger in the spring. A powerful earthquake can generate a
destructive tsunami of a flow!

March Hopework Supper and Circle

Date: Sunday, April 17, 2011.

RSVP: Please let us know by Saturday night (4/16) how many plan to
attend. Call or email if you have any questions. I have room for about
12 people around the table (and at least 20 if we move it out of the
way!)

Time: Arrive at 4:00 pm (or at 3:00 pm if you would like to visit and
be on my cooking and setup team). The meal will begin at 4:30 pm. We
usually finish telling stories and cleaning up about 7:00 pm.

Menu: Bring a dish or a favorite beverage to share. I'll provide a
main dish (usually vegetarian) and will make coffee and offer my
assortment of teas.

Topic: To be decided by Sunday.

For those of you who are new, Hopework is the practice of creating
spaces for people to get to know and like each other and to find
renewed hope and purpose with and from each other. Hopework' suppers
and story circle evenings are a way to reconnect with friends who have
shared in our work and to meet new acquaintances who share our
interests. Each month we look forward to greeting Hopework friends,
Philosophy Camp/Lives Worth Living alumni and fellows, and making new
friends and acquaintances.

This year we will meet on the 4th Sundays of most months. Please join
us when you can!
Future dates: Suppers will start again in September 2011.
